Building Management Systems

What is a BMS?

BMS is a control system that can be used to monitor and manage mechanical, electrical and electromechanical processes in a plant.

A building management system (BMS) is a computer-based control system. It is installed in buildings to control and monitor mechanical and electrical equipment. These can be ventilation, lighting, power and fire systems and security systems.

Examples of major subsystems controlled by BMS are:

HVAC system
Technical steam system
Hot water and central heating system
Cold water system
Sistemul anti-incendiu
Sistemul electric de monitorizare

… and more.

The number of subsystems connected to the BMS and the level of control are linked to the investment decision. However, the two main subsystems that are usually considered in a BMS are HVAC control and electrical system monitoring.
